Rosie Memories.
Yesterday Rosie and I were driving when we came upon a car crash that had just occurred.
We had to sit there and watch the stunned people make their way out of each of the three vehicles. Others got out of their cars to help. Someone couldn't get out of the small truck sandwiched between two cars in the wreck.
Rosie said repeatedly, "Oh no! Cwash? Oh no, oh no."
I explained to her, yes there was a bad crash. Three cars ran into each other. She knows about crashes, from the pop-up Go Dogs Go book we have.
We saw the police pull up to the scene. Then another police car, and an ambulance. Lots of flashing lights and loud sirens. They all got out and gathered around the truck in the middle, no one could get the door open because it was crushed. Finally a fire truck came to the rescue, and their equipment removed the door. Rosie watched in stunned silence. They pulled a man out. Rosie saw him, and she started crying. She blew him kisses and begged me to get out and give him milk, to make him feel better. I teared up, just a little.

Then they got the wreck moved to the side so that we could go on with our errands, as if nothing had ever happened. Rosie talked about the crash, "a cwash", for the rest of the day. In the middle of the night she woke up screaming and talking about it in her sleep, still blowing them kisses and wailing "milk Mama, milk please."
Rosie was playing on the floor in our back room today. She picked up her little chair, and a little black spider darted out into the middle of the floor. "Oh! Mama! PIDER!!" She immediately started singing Itsy Bitsy Spider and doing the motions with a huge grin on her face.
Then, out of no where, Norbert the lizard came flying at top fat reptile speed. With one flick of his plump tongue, the little spider was gone.
"Pider? Oh no, oh no..."
The other night Rosie was sitting on the couch with us when we heard a huge boom outside. She immediately jumped up and yelled, "A BOOM! Boom, boom, boom!" and started running around the room.
Who knew she had that word in her vocabulary?
Rosie talking on my cell phone to no one:
"Hello Marah!"
(Marah is my mom, for some reason that's how Rosie says Gram.)
"Dada poopoo. Ew dada! My nose..."
"Bye Marah, love you!"
Tonight Rosie was having trouble falling asleep. After she had been nursing and rolling around for an hour and a half, she suddenly sat up and peered right into my face in the darkness. "Thank you, Mama, thank you," she murmured while stroking my cheek. Then she gave me a huge wet kiss right on the lips, snuggled against me, and drifted off to sleep.
